On a broader scale SPACE Property Agents has continued its generous support through fundraising activities to heighten awareness of those less fortunate or to purchase much needed medical equipment.
SPACE Property Agents is gathering further momentum in establishing the ''SPACE Property Foundation’’ as the fundraising vehicle that will support a nominated charity each year.

THE PYJAMA FOUNDATION
SPACE Property Agents are now working together with local Brisbane charity, the Pyjama Foundation, to transform children’s lives through literacy.
Established in September 2004, the Pyjama Foundation recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers from the community – “Pyjama Angels” – who visit their foster child each week to read with them, play educational games and help them with their homework. The focus is essentially on improving literacy levels however the results are that the children gain skills and confidence in themselves.
The Pyjama Foundation is committed to children in care having the same opportunities in life as other children by delivering a program that targets their literacy, learning and listening skills, boosting both self-confidence and self-esteem.
SPACE Property Agents recognises the importance of literacy in the community and have formed a relationship with Bronwyn Sheehan, Telstra Business Women of the Year and founder of the Pyjama Foundation, to work together to lessen this apparent inequality.
Director of SPACE Property Agents Nick Penklis said that reading to his children and being read to as a child was something he always took for granted. “Reading to your child is such a natural part of childhood. To be denied such an important learning tool at such an impressionable age is hard to accept,” Nick said.
“Our goal is to sponsor the recruitment and training of the Pyjama Angels. We are extremely passionate about making a difference to the lives of children in foster care and ecstatic with the results already achieved by the Pyjama Foundation. Bronwyn’s goal is for each child in foster care to have their own Pyjama Angel, which the SPACE team have wholeheartedly embraced.”
Together, SPACE Property Agents and the Pyjama Foundation look forward to making a positive, long term impact on the lives of children in care.

- The Pyjama Foundation’s 1st Annual Blue Jeans & Black Tie Charity Gala certainly went off with a bang! Overlooking the gorgeous city skyline guests were treated to a spectacular display of fireworks, courtesy of the Brisbane Exhibition. Entertainment for the evening included both a silent and live Auction, guest star performance by Emily Williams, as well as a mechanical bull riding competition. Our very own Nick Penklis was called upon to perform the Live Auction and he didn’t disappoint.

- NEW FARM STATE SCHOOL FUNDRAISER AUCTION
- SPACE Property Agents were lucky enough to take part in the always successful New Farm State School Fete, in order to raise money for the school so badly devastated by the January floods. As a major sponsor of the event, SPACE Property Agents and their team of volunteer cadets were in full force handing out 600 helium balloons within the first two hours of the event! It seemed everyone was touched by the community spirit... While the kids showcased their talent performing some brilliant dance routines, musical numbers and vocal performances... mums and dads put their cooking skills to the test selling cakes and Belgium waffles - a sure favourite of the day! Not to outshine the kids... Auctioneer of the day and SPACE Property Director Nick Penklis was on fire—selling all 22 donated items “under the hammer”. With 3 items selling for over $1,000 and one item—a holiday to New Zealand selling for over $3,000 we could not ask for a better result! All up the fete managed to fundraise close to $85,000 for the school—all made possible by the volunteers, sponsors and some truly amazing donations from the New Farm community.
